Visible, "deadly" volcanic gas actually from a smoke machine

Copy of photograph from the Kilauea USGS website, http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/kilauea/update/images.html, taken August 17,2007 showing the relatively small amount of volcanic gases released by the flowing lava in the ongoing eruption near Pu'u O'o. As the surface of the flow crusts over and forms a tube, the gases will seep out through cracks above the tube as shown in previous photographs. Smoke is shown at the far end where the lava front is burning through the forest. Volcanic gases usually have a bluish tinge and water vapor is usually white.(Reference: / Volcanochaser 11:14, 20 August 2007 (CDT))
A hiker enjoys the view of flowing lava through the skylight of a lava tube while gases seep out from a small porous section above the tube. Superheated gases, not visible to the camera, also come out of the skylight like the exhaust from a jet engine. January 16, 2003 (Reference: / Volcanochaser 11:17, 20 August 2007 (CDT))

Confirmed: A smoke machine was used to generate "toxic" volcanic fumes, and hot coals were shipped in to mimic lava.

In yet another expose about the show, when Bear is seen leaping across "molten lava" and "clouds of killer gas", all is not as it seems. In fact, the smoke (which Bear describes as deadly sulphur dioxide) is from smoke generators, and the lava (which he said could incinerate him "in seconds") was coals brought in by the production team.[1]

[edit] Analysis

Support:Except for the main vents, such as Pu'u O'o and some areas around the caldera, fuming areas in Kilauea which contain irritants from volcanic gases are highly localized and small in area. They are present only over active lava tubes, which further reduces the area of their presence to an insignificant size. They can easily be gone around or passed through by holding one's breath for a few seconds. All fuming areas away from the active tubes are composed of water vapor caused by rain water coming into contact with hot spots from previous flows.

Support: [2] and if you look at this video it proves that when he crossed on the lava bridge, the crevace was going to end in about 30 feet if they kept walking and it also proves that the place where bear was *stranded* and crossed the lava bridge, is about 200 feet from a highway.

Neutral: There are already multiple articles about this.

Support: A video has been posted on You tube, showing the lava bridge in question, and its proximity to an active roadway. http://youtube.com/watch?v=3UpSlpvb1is
