Getting lost a stone's throw from Oahu
From BearWiki
Confirmed: Bear is just a stone's throw away from the popular tourist island, Oahu.
While they never do a zoom on the island he stays on (only offering blurry/moving shots as he approaches), they give great views of other islands in the area. These islands can all be clearly identified as islets on the east coast of Oahu -- generally either bird sanctuaries or popular places for people to take day trips to/kayak around/etc.
- Na Mokulua (Moku Nui (north) and Moku Iki (south)): Less than a mile from Mid-Pacific Country Club and about half a mile from suburban sprawl.
- Kaohikaipu (Turtle Island): Less than half a mile from Oahu's coast, which is dominated by beach parks and highway 72. A mile or two away is the Hawaii Kai Golf Course
- Mokulii: About 1000 feet from Kualoa Regional Park, right off the Kamehameha Highway.

Update: Getting lost on Oahu itself
Update 2: The location is confirmed in an interview.
[edit] Analysis
Support: Why would they have all of their footage (including shots taken from the helicopter with Bear in it) of the east coast of Oahu, then take him to some actually remote area?
Support: For all we can tell, his "survival" isn't even on an islet, but on Oahu itself.
Oppose: The island is just used to simulate the environment of a Deserted Island.
Support: So why not just dump a truck load of sand into the WalMart parking lot if it's just to "simulate" the environment and tell us it's a "deserted" island?!? Just another example of lying and deceit that is this shows main theme.
