A climbing harness can be seen around his waist and legs.
A sample climbing harness.
Rope in Alaskan Mountain Range.

Bear, seemingly inexplicably, decides to climb down a cliff straight through the center of a waterfall. He presents this as a climb only supported by vines. However, in the video, you can see what appears to be a climbing harness around his waist and legs.[1]

[edit] Analysis

Support: Such a climb is dangerous even with equipment; trying to make people think that it was a wise choice when he himself, an expert rock climber, isn't willing to climb it, is greatly irresponsible.

Oppose: The image isn't very clear. He's clearly wearing something that he isn't wearing later, but whether it's a harness cannot be definitively claimed.

Oppose: It could have been the harness from his parachute.

Support: That would still be harness to help him climb, and clever camera work to try and hide it.
Oppose: Looking over the video, it is in fact the parachute harness. The exact same "device" strapped to his leg when going down the water fall is there prior to when dropping with the 50 foot rope out of the 60 foot drop in the tree. And in fact would not help him do any climbing what so ever after the parachute was disengaged. this is way to far fetched, and now people are just trying to hard to prove this show is fake. The point he is trying to make isn't a consideration of safety but some worse case scenario education. When you have nothing, and your lost in the jungle, your going to have to take some risks...
Support: His CG is directly over the harness. That isn't shaped like a parachute harness, and even if it was, who would hike for miles with a parachute harness on? Lastly, this stunt would be idiotic without a harness.
Support: Its quite obvious thats a climbing harness. It doesn't mattter where it came from it still aids him in his climbing endeavors. If he made it look like your average person lost in a forest or jungle could do the things he does he is risking those people's lives. This show is made to show the average person how to survive
Add-on: Since i can't add it in Alaskan Mountain Range page, and i can't make a new one,i will show you here

Rope used to rappeal down the waterfall in Alaskan Mountain Range..

Support: wow , quickly going over the episode..

1)Parachute landing on a tree is fake again.. i Think after he landed, they went down with the chopper and picked the parachute and dropped him on the tree because when you see his legs trough the leafs is a downward fall, not a parachute glide.. 2)Ther's definelly a harness, not a parachute harness, and you can see when he loses the grip, his hip is supported.. 3)Still can't light a fire..You can see after some drilling he already has light coal and the same mistakes no Notch for the embers in the wood, the Drill its badly shaped, like Ray Mears says.. the upper side must be more pointed to reduce friction, the bottom must be flat to increse friction and light a fire efficently. 4)LOL, so many times he has diarrea, maybe because he eats anything he finds raw?

Support: Since i can't add it in Alaskan Mountain Range and can't make a new page i will add it here..
