Many locations. The three islands that they pan over by helicopter after the first commercial break are a stone's throw from the east coast of popular Hawaiian tourist destination, Oahu (a few thousand feet or less). The "uninhabited islands" along the coast are popular for day trips; some even have welcome signs and the like. The mountain ridge scenes early on are in Kualoa Ranch. The beach, where most of the ep takes place, is Kawela Bay, one of the few relatively pristine beaches on Oahu; careful camera work hides the areas that have beachfront houses.
